Sylvan Lake Municipal Library’s main purpose has always been to support the community and the town of Sylvan Lake. They strive to be the heart of the community and provide a place where all can come to discover, learn, and connect to support community like-minded people.
Some examples of supporting the community and organizations include providing a meeting space for community groups such as Manpower’s Career Leap Resume Review, the Town of Sylvan Lake Volunteer Centre, ESL, and tutoring groups. In partnership with Red Deer Polytechnic, provided hands-on STEM Red Hot Science Workshops. Other initiatives include an in-house coffee station, where all funds raised go to support the local Christmas Bureau, a ladybug release party, trivia nights, and other monthly events that support local businesses. Plus, Sylvan Lake Municipal Library has an ongoing little free pantry project. The pantry is open during Sylvan Lake Municipal Library open hours, which are seven days a week, on a no questions asked basis. In the pantry, you will see canned goods, cereal, juice, pasta, soup, and other items such as diapers and feminine hygiene products. Visit Sylvan Lake Municipal Library to learn more about the free pantry project.
